Physio in the Forest is located in the picturesque village of Woodhouse, near Loughborough in Leicestershire. It was established as a result of my passion for giving clients direct and straightforward access to excellent physiotherapy and sports massage therapy services in a pleasant environment.
I know that the earlier you can get help, the sooner you will begin to feel better. Spending time with and listening to my clients is particularly important to me, allowing the delivery of an individual treatment approach that works.
You may have visited my site because you’ve suddenly incurred an injury or are experiencing a recent episode of pain. Alternatively, you may have been suffering with symptoms for a while. Whatever the circumstance or what you want to achieve, Physio in the Forest is here to help you feel better and get moving again.
I always endeavor to help clients to achieve their goals, whether that is to alleviate pain, improve flexibility, strength, posture or function, or return to full fitness following an injury or surgery.
PLEASE NOTE THAT MY SCOPE OF PRACTICE IS FOR ADULTS OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE.
Physio in the Forest also offers sports massage (including remedial and deep tissue massage therapy) as a stand-alone treatment. These styles of massage can help anyone, meaning that you don’t need to be experiencing aches and pains to benefit.
My name is Katie Freeman and I am an experienced Chartered and HCPC registered Physiotherapist and Sports Massage Therapist specialising in musculoskeletal conditions. I have worked in the physiotherapy profession for almost 25 years and am grateful to do a job that I love and continue to have a passion for.
I graduated from Nottingham University in 2000 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy and began my career with the NHS at the University Hospitals of Leicester. Here I worked in different specialties, before settling into a senior musculoskeletal post. After leaving the NHS, I specialised in the field of Occupational Health and have been employed by prestigious engineering and manufacturing companies across the Midlands, providing physiotherapy services to their employees. These roles have provided me with a wealth of knowledge and have exposed me to a diverse workload. I have thousands of hours of experience in helping clients and treating a wide variety of conditions and pathologies – including work related issues, sports injuries, spinal problems, degenerative and post-operative conditions to name but a few.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). This means that I comply with strict regulations for qualifications, professional standards and ongoing training.
I practice acupuncture to help manage both acute and chronic pain, and to treat muscle tightness and discomfort. I am a full (accredited) member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). This is granted only by completing at least 300 hours of theoretical and practical training and assessments, and by fulfilling a required number of training hours every two years.
I am a trained Sports Massage Therapist (ITEC Level 3 Extended Diploma) and can offer sports, remedial and deep tissue massage therapy as a stand-alone treatment. I can also use these techniques as part of my physiotherapy practice.
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in the specialty of Occupational Health and Ergonomics from Glasgow Caledonian University, and have gone on to achieve the acclaimed status of ‘registered member’ with the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE).
As a physiotherapist, I use my expertise to diagnose a problem, and employ a variety of treatment techniques to help my clients. I have completed an array of post graduate training courses in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, ensuring that the treatments I offer are effective and based on evidence and research.
